I have been getting a little bit of stitching in over the holidays but not as much as usual. I did manage to stitch up two PS ornaments and am now working on a PS bookmark freebie. I will post pictures once I finish-finish the ornaments....I have several that need to be done up. I just wanted to pop in here and post an update since it's been over a week since I posted last.

Not so Itty Bitty

I don't have it written down(that I can find) when I started this....I know it was after Sept 2011 as that is when it was purchased, and after Feb 2012 as I finished the Teensy Weensy which I started first. Here is Keslyn's Itty Bitty over 2 on 40ct. using some called for colors and some of my chosing.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I have been busy finishing up Christmas preparations. When I sit down to stitch I have been working on an 'almost finish'. This Dimensions Snowy St. Nick was done all except the cording and french knots, which I decided to replace with beads and am quite happy I did because they sparkle nicely(in person). I can picture him done up as a banner for next Christmas. He is about 15 x 18.

Next is a fob I made from the pattern of Just Nan's Flora Fifteen. The other side is pink. Actually I made several of these pieces and realized they were the wrong count for the white ones so the spares(1 set) ended up as this fob.

These next 2 are the results of my trial with Hobby Lobby framing. The original intention was to just order the frame and put them together myself. The young man helping me said they lace so I thought I'd give them a try. When picking up another young man was helping me and said all over coverage stretches better(duh, but most cross stitch isn't all over coverage). Anyway even though they aren't as straight as I'd liked they are probably just as good as I a non-professional framer could have done....can't decide if they will get the whole job in the future.

This one isn't quite centered and is the worst for being more skewy (word? lol).   ;(

Since it's Christmas, I thought I would show our stockings.

Mine is two sided since I liked both hobby rooms.

I wait

I purchased this pattern quite a few years ago at Hands to Work's trunk show at my LNS. I used more than one skein of Silk N color so I had to put it aside for a bit waiting to get the new skein. It originally called for one shade of brown silk (NPI) and on vintage exemplar but I like to change things around.

Snow Belles

are done just in time for our cold weather....I hear we had some flurries(that melted) Monday night but it was dark out and I wasn't watching for them.

Here is/are Lizzie Kate Snow Belles on For the cure (pink) fabric. The piece is just draped for picture taking and not stretched so is a bit askew. I put a piece of white behind it but it still doesn't show pink enough in the photo.

Now I'm back to stitching on my Hands to Work sampler. I also am closing up my set of Blackbird Designs Halloween stockings so hope to have those to show....they've been stitched for a year or two but I am just getting the finishing done on them(with my mom's help of setting them up for sewing together).

Another one with one to go

I've finished up Lizzie Kate's Snow Belles Frosty Friends and just have 1 more to go to have the whole piece finished.

I'm Back

with some pictures finally. Seems like I am starting on and working on several things but not getting any finishes the last couple of weeks. Will probably get a few all at once this way though.
Here is Ice Queen from LK Snow Belles that was finished over a week ago. I love the color(For the Cure) of this fabric but not caring for the 30ct open feel. But it will all be okay.

And a friend lent me this chart that I was just itching to do. I didn't stitch much over the holiday but did get some x's in on Saturday evening.Plum Street Sampler Halloweenies. I did switch the color for the dog on the right. I didn't use any CC, but Weeks or GAST instead.

Hope everyone's holiday was a good one.

Happy Thanksgiving

I'm popping on here to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving in the US....others, it's a great time to remember to be thankful for what you do have.
I did have an LK Snowbelles finish last weekend but haven't gotten a scan yet....will do so after the holiday.

I have been working on a couple of things....One I ran out of SNC a week or so back so while waiting for a friend to bring it from Cecelia's retreat this weekend I worked on this Goode Huswife's The sparrow. It's on 40ct. linen over 2 with DMC.  And just in case you were interested...this chart is spoken for.

After finishing the Goode Huswife chart on Saurday I finished up a partial start on M Designs 'Katelyn'. It's on 40ct white over 2 using SNC Jellybean.
Sunday was such a cold rainy day that it was a good movie day for DD & I with DH deer hunting. Needless to say, lots of stitching time on Sunday after church and lunch with family.
This is Bent Creek's freebie 'One dozen'. It really was a quick stitch, only 4 DMC colors on 28 ct. natural linen. It's on a slant because it's a tad too long for the scanner.

I've started a little PS ornament but I'm not into it...so it will probably be put aside(it's on dark fabric)to find something else to stitch while I wait to meet up with my pony express delivery of floss. I really need to sit down with my finishes and finish some of them up.....Have a box of frames a friend gave me & I need to make an inventory to see if any of them fit some of my finishes as is.

Moving along

Here are a couple more quick stitches....well, the Pine Mountain Snow Brr-ds took a little more than 'quick', but still these are nice to fill in when working on larger pieces. Excuse the wrinkles....it's soft flannel that didn't stay flat on the scanner. I need to stuff it now with a small pillow.

This one is Shepherd's Bush Santa's Fill. Also came with the Jill Rensel mats.

Going to raid my stash to see if there are any more quick ones I'm wanting to do before going back to my WIPS.

Merry Day

I loved doing this quick little Shepherd's Bush kit called Merry Day. It came with the Jill Rensel handpainted mats.

Up next to continue my break from a couple of larger projects is another SB kit and a pine mountain pillow kit.

6 Fat Men

is finished....Here is Snow Day chart #6

and here is the whole piece....done on a piece of blue I had in my stash with no color name on it. I still need to attach the buttons.

A bit of finishing

I finally got around to closing up the last seam and attaching the ribbon to my long finished Halloween Quadrille. Just in time to display it for the last few weeks before Halloween.

Let is snow.....but not for real

I am NOT ready for the real thing here...but it sure is fun stitching Snow & snowmen. Here is part 5 of Lizzie Kate's 6 fat snowmen with the chart extra part stitched also.
I'm on the last snowman then hopefully on to the last 3 SnowBelles with something else stitched in between as I won't pick up those charts till later in the week. Hmmm what to stitch next?

Snow fun

Here is the 4th chart of 6 Fat Men
These are so fun and so quick to stitch( it helps to be a hunting widow on the weekends) although, who am I fooling, I get just as much stitching done when he is home. LOL I finished this yesterday and have a good start already on the next chart. Hopefully I will get to pick up the next 3 snowbelles to finish that one up as soon as this series is done.

Next up

The next of the 6 fat men is.....

Have season 2 of Downton Abbey to watch....family is out and about this weekend so good tv & stitching time for me.

Next stage for snowmen redwork

Last year I embroidered snowman blocks from Crabapple Hill Winter Wonderland.
Here are the blocks my mom set together and I just recently finished the turkey stitch in between each block.

And now here is the quilt with the outer blocks set in.

Next up Mom will put the binding & backing on then will quilt it.

More Snowmen

Here is the 2nd chart of the Lizzie Kate 6 fat men series....Snow House. Oops....I see I need to add the couple of backstitches on the windows....oh well, will be a complete finish in a few moments. Snowflake buttons to be added at the end, which also reminds me I need to find some more of them....They aren't JABCO buttons, at least they aren't in their catalog.
It's been a bit nippy here and even so much so that some rain we got last weekend had some sleet in it....ugh...too soon for me.
It's supposed to be warmer today and later in the week which will be a nice reprieve.

6 Fat men

Here is the first of the 6 Fat Men from Lizzie Kate. I'm using a piece of blue 32 ct. linen I had on hand(it's a little more grey blue than this photo shows....again, I'm using W snowflake for the white.

I love nature

especially bees, flowers and anything fall colors. This Birds of a feather chart called Bitter Flower sampler is the prettiest sampler. I stitched it over 2 on 40 ct. Bittersweet. It ended up being 4.5 x 7.5.  The lower case alphabet didn't have the letter h and I would have left it that way except the upper case alphabet DID have it...so I moved some letters over and fit it in so I wouldn't have to answer multiple questions as to why there is a missing h in one of the alphabets. LOL

Celebrations Stash Haul & class

Celebrations was wonderful again this year with the added bonus of a stitching parlor...plenty of room left even when there were quite a few stitchers in there. I didn't stay as late at night as I had thought I would but I enjoyed the whole show greatly.

I took Cecile McPeak's class from JABCo. It was awesome....on the left you will see the buttons I made.  This is what was left after everyone in the class got 1 or 2.
In the paper box(which will be decorated later as we chose to spend all our time making buttons instead) are the buttons I received from the other class attendees.
The buttons below the box were given to us by Cecile. Frog pin was one of Sarah's(her assistant) first attempts at the frog when she started working for Cecile. Then Cecile came around and took a scrap of the clay we were working with and made our initial.

I went to Meet & Great (posted earlier) on Wednesday night....Show preview on Thursday(we got to window shop) where then I of course made notes as to which shop to seek out first for specific items I saw....on Friday spent the morning shopping till our backs started hurting, so lunch, then the stitching lounge. Saturday was my class, a couple of shops to revisit then the stitcher's lounge again.
So here is my stash haul....mostly large cuts of fabric(40ct) & a few patterns with some floss, Halloween bell pull topper and some shop freebies/goodies given(bottom left corner floss, two patterns, wood tag, & key chain is already on my keys).

And I kept telling EVERYONE I saw, I don't know where I've been for the last 4 years but the Erica Michaels that I know from Rainbow Gallery isn't the same. WOW, her silk gauze patterns are exquisite...and a couple had to come home with me. A fellow stitcher in the lounge kept getting interrupted by me telling EVERYONE there too (LOL) to go look at her work as she was working on silk gauze and had several finishes to show off. I could stitch all I own on silk gauze and probably be able to display it all on one wall(sure saves space).

Thursday, September 20, 2012

I went to 'Meet the Designers' night at Celebrations and it was quite nice....we got to see the class projects which I know influenced a lot of ladies to go ahead and sign up for some classes they were on the fence about. Theresa from Shakespeare's Peddler gave a wonderful talk about Reproduction Samplers she is charting.

I pulled out several things to work on while there this week/weekend. This Shepherd's bush Halloween Roll was done except for the hemstitching and putting together....well the hemstitching is now done.

A bit scary

This is the last of the bonus charts from Lizzie Kate's Mystery sampler. I did it with W onyx & charcoal on 28 ct. Moss green which I dyed a bit more yellow.

Mystery solved

Here is part 3 of Lizzie Kate's Mystery sampler Very Scary.

and here is the whole piece
My friend Christi has had hers done for a week or so and pointed out about the bottom border that it doesn't look finished...I agreed so we both did a bit of extra stitching on it...each with different results.

The charts are going into my sale album...see my photobucket link in my profile or click the sale tab above

Also, here are the Snow Belles so far....awaiting the release of the next 3 ladies. The picture of the fabric doesn't look like the blush 'for the cure' pink that it is in person

It's getting to be that time of year

We are having nice crisp evenings and mornings....being a bit rural we are easily down into the 40's at night. so nice for the windows to be open and give that hard worked AC a break before it did break. The wonderful smell of fires burning(bonfires) and the feeling of fall coming. I don't like the thought of not so nice coloring because of our drought and I definitely don't like the shorter days.

I like these little quick stitches that are the extras from Lizzie Kate's Mystery sampler series. I should be receiving part 3 from 123stitch hopefully today so I can get back to the larger sampler. I had scraps of fabric that I used for the bonus charts and I used Weeks Mascara on these two.

Beautiful weather & a finish

We have finally broken the stretch of 100's and maybe even the high 90's. It's been a nice cool 75-85 degrees with a hint of fall in the air.
Lizzie Kate's Baby it's cold outside doesn't quite fit our weather but we know it's coming.
Here she is...the 3rd installment of the Snow Belles series. I'm working on the extra parts till the next 3 parts come in or until my 3rd part of LK Very Scary mystery sampler gets here.

I'm not ready for snow

But the little Lizzie Kate Snow belles apparently are. Here is the 2nd installment of the piece.

Snow Belles

I started the Lizzie Kate Snowbelles...I'm stitching them on R & R For the Cure fabric and instead of whitewash I'm using Weeks Snowflake. Will add the embellishments when it's all finished and out of the q snaps.

My hand at dyeing

I stitched this freebie I had printed out and would like to link you all to it but I can't find it at her site anymore.  Our Pioneer Homestead blog .
I did it on mint green(thinking witches face here) and used SNC monster mash but I'm not as crazy about how it turned out so can't do any harm by trying staining. I used instant espresso...it sure smells good and I like the coloring  a lot better. The final picture doesn't really show the shading of the coffee stain....a little heavier in between the rows of words...and a few nice blotches of brown...fabric is still green but more witchy face green ;)

a French piece

I'm waiting on part 3 of the LK mystery sampler to arrive so I pulled out a freebie from a Designer I've never heard of....Dessins DHC-Bird's Roundelay. I got this from my LNS after market last spring.  I used a Waterlilies color on a piece of linen from my stash.
Now I'm off to find something else quick to stitch....I think I may do a Halloween little pillow from another freebie given to me. We are waiting for the remnants of Isaac to arrive. We need over 6" of rain and they are saying it would take 12" to make up for our drought....a nice steady all weekend rain would be nice. (sorry, holiday plans that may be ruined)

Monday, August 27, 2012

The temperatures are a little cooler and we did get some rain yesterday/last night. Still need a lot more but we will take what we get.
On Saturday I finished up the Leaves pattern from Prairie Schooler Pumpkins. I will try to finish it as a standup as they show. I stitched it on a piece of fabric I had that was a bit lighter than the Cognac I had that it called for.

Friday, August 17, 2012

Here is part 2 of the Lizzie Kate Mystery sampler Very Scary....I've told some in conversation that this part I was feeling very impatient while stitching it...but it went fine and I still like the piece as a whole....can't wait to see the next and last installment. On part 2 of the pattern I see the name Acorn Hollow but it's not on the cover as Very Scary is on both.

Very Scary

Part 1 that is....this is Lizzie Kate's Very Scary Mystery sampler....I used R&R Old Mill Java for the fabric. Embellishments will be added when all of the parts are done.

Thursday, August 9, 2012

I have finished the Lizzie Kate Less/More series...here is hate less, love more

And here it is all as one....I did some changes...I didn't leave out the bottom border motif on each as called for when doing as one piece and only did the top of the final border and changed the colors for it.
I will probably finish this as a bellpull or fabric framed piece as I've done on another series of hers and will also do on the Halloween one, which reminds me I need to pull that out also and take them and have my mom help me with the assembly.
